Land of My Song

by Paul Jarman

In 2012 Victoria Welsh participated in the Wales Choir of the World concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London. One of the songs which we sang on that day was Pemulwuy, which relates the exploits of a leader of the Aborigines who were defending their country against the European invaders late in the 18th Century.  Pemulwuy, which has been a big hit at our concerts since then, was written by the distinguished Australian composer Paul Jarman.

In 2015 we commissioned a new work from Paul, and recently we have been busy rehearsing the result, Land of My Song.

Paul Jarman accepted our invitation to conduct both Pemulwuy and Land of My Song - the latter a world premiere - In our annual St David's Day concert on 19th February 2017.
